Harold Tor. We will talk about “The Rise of AI”, with DAN NECHITA.
Dan Nechita works intensively on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in the European Parliament. He will talk about the definition of AI in regulatory terms, and why there is an urgent need to regulate this fast-developing technology. Dan will also explain why AI is much more than ChatGPT, and its use is increasingly important in every single sector outside of the IT industry. As with all technologies, AI is a double-edged sword. Dan will also compare the regulation of AI in different regions of the world.
Dan Nechita is is the Head of Cabinet for Dragos Tudorache, Member of the European Parliament (Renew Europe). He covers the EU Artificial Intelligence Act and oversees the artificial
intelligence (AIDA), civil liberties (LIBE), foreign affairs (AFET) and security and defense (SEDE) legislative committees and the Delegation for relations with the United States (D-US). Previously,he was a State Counselor for Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, with a mandate on e-governance, digitalization, and cybersecurity. He worked at the World Security Institute (the Global Zero nuclear disarmament initiative); at the Brookings Institution Center of Executive Education; as a graduate teaching assistant at the George Washington University; at the ABC News Political Unit; and as a research assistant at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace. He is co-founder of Smart Everything Everywhere, a think tank promoting European digitalization, founder of K Street Consulting, a boutique consulting company for U.S. companies in the EU, and an expert project evaluator for the European Commission.
