Dave Sinardet is Professor of political science at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) as well as at the Université Saint-Louis in Brussels. His research interests include federalism, nationalism, political communication and multilingual democracy, on which he has published widely. He is also an expert on Belgian politics and particularly on Belgian institutional reform. Sinardet is also a columnist for a Dutch-speaking as well as a French-speaking newspaper (De Tijd and La Libre Belgique) and a regular participant in the Belgian public debate, on both sides of the language border.
